Graduate Student Portfolio
Welcome to my graduate portfolio for the MSN Informatics program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. These projects show how I’m using data, technology, and evidence-based practice to improve healthcare quality, strengthen decision-making, and create workflows that support better experiences for both patients and clinical teams. I love digging into data, and my work reflects my passion for both nursing and technology.
About Me.
I'm a Registered Nurse with over a decade of experience across perioperative care, procedural nursing, and pediatric urgent care settings. I recently started a new role within Cook Childrens Health Care System, where I hope to combine my love of patient care with my passion for improving clinical systems and safe medication practices. My background includes serving as an EHR superuser and go-live team lead for HST Pathways and eChart, managing OR materials and vendor relationships, and acting in leadership roles — all of which pointed me pretty naturally toward informatics. I'm currently pursuing my MSN in Nursing Informatics at Texas Tech, with a focus on safe medication practices. I'm looking forward to a career where technology and nursing intersect each day.
Nursing is my second career. I adore animals and was a veterinary assistant and animal control officer for many years before becoming an RN.
Creating this ePortfolio gave me the opportunity to look back at how much I have grown throughout the MSN Nursing Informatics program. As I review my projects, I can clearly see my progression from learning foundational informatics concepts to applying them in real-world clinical settings. Each artifact represents a different aspect of my development, including data analysis, workflow redesign, project management, leadership, clinical decision support, and the use of technology to improve patient care and clinician workflows.
Developing this portfolio also helped me recognize how my background as a nurse has expanded into a wider understanding of healthcare systems and the important role informatics plays in improving quality, safety, and efficiency. Through coursework and practicum experiences, I have become more confident collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, analyzing clinical processes, and using data to support evidence-based decisions.
I plan to continue developing this ePortfolio as my career progresses. It will serve as a professional portfolio that showcases my knowledge, skills, and accomplishments to future employers as I pursue a career in nursing informatics. I also expect to add future projects, certifications, and professional achievements as I continue growing in the field, making this portfolio an ongoing reflection of my professional development and lifelong learning.
